Plastifar S.A. was founded on July 20, 1992 by engineer Alejandro Farach Cruz in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, originally producing pharmaceutical jars before expanding into food-service disposables. The company is headquartered at Autopista Duarte Km. 13½, Santo Domingo, and opened a second plant and warehouse in Guatemala in 2017, describing itself as the largest and most complete disposables factory in Central America and the Caribbean. Plastifar manufactures a catalog of more than 500 disposable products for the food service, retail, bakery, and food-processor markets, spanning foam trays, cups, and bowls, rigid PET and polypropylene containers, cutlery, lids, straws, and takeout boxes - the foam meat trays, foam bowls, and PET cold cups AFS Marketplace carries from the brand - sold under house brands including Bionature, iLock, LionCups, PlastiClear, SunnyPack, and Tortuga. The company holds OEA (Authorized Economic Operator), BASC, Kosher, and FSSC 22000 certifications, and supports sea turtle conservation on Saona Island through its affiliated Fundaçion Farach, a program running since 2015.
